This hamlet preserves its florid Medieval past best of all. It rises on a promontory overlooking the Valley of the Dragone river. The heart of the hamlet is a quiet, square piazzetta, bordered by the 11th century Church of the Annunciation. From here you can admire the basilica of St Eustace, Ravello, the opposite village of Pogerola and the gorges of Atrani and Amalfi.
Every day the fountain in the piazzetta offers refreshment to the mules that shuttle their loads up and down the age-old steps between Scala and Amalfi.

The panorama between sea and mountains where you can enjoy the sunset from the ruins of the basilica (XIII sec.). Considered one of the finest in Southern Italy, it dominates the Monte Aureo and the village of Pontone.
